Minutes for 10/4/10 Meeting


Minutes of the Oct. 4, 2010 General Membership Meeting

Meeting location: Mesilla Valley Bosque State Park

Attending: See sign up sheet

Also attending: LuAnn Tafoya, Jan Kirwan, MVBSP Staff

The meeting was called to order at 6:45 by Bob Hull, President

Officers and Board Members attending were recognized so that those present would know who they are.


Motion to approve the minutes of the Sept. 13 meeting (Bob Hull), seconded (Annette Slater), unanimously approved.

Treasurer’s report: Jerry reported a balance of $5,001.57, of which $1,000 is earmarked for educational purposed. Report is with original minutes.


Bob Hull noted that the Friends need additional Board Members and a Vice President, and invited anyone with interest to see him concerning these positions.

Diane Azacate reported on her work with Mesilla Elementary School for science education.

Bob announced that the revised By-Laws have been signed.

Two visitors introduced themselves and were welcomed.

Jackye Meineke discussed the up-coming Renaissance Faire and detailed the need for volunteers to staff our booth, assist with set-up, and assist with take-down, from Friday, Nov. 5 through Sunday 11/7. A message will be sent to the general membership asking for assistance, and a sign-up sheet circulated.

Lu-Ann will contact Game and Fish for posters.

Sylvia will contact BLM for same.

The quilt obtained for our raffle from the Colcha Society was displayed. Tickets will sell for $2 each, 3 for $5.

Jan Kirwan, the new park Superintendant was introduced. She hopes to better integrate the park and the community, and will give a longer presentation to the Friends once she has settled into her new office.

LuAnn and Bob announced the upcoming second anniversary of the Park

Diane announced two Family Days at the Park for Mesilla Elementary School. The first is tentatively scheduled for Nov. 20; the second will be in the spring.

Sylvia requests photos of the park for the newsletter, as well as for the web site.

A board meeting is needed within the next two weeks; board members were requested to send their schedules to Bob.

Next general meeting: Monday, Nov. 1 at 6:30 at the Park

Motion to adjourn at 7:35 (Susan) seconded by Bob. Passed unanimously.
