DayCamps

Starting on June 18th and June 25th, the Mesilla Valley Bosque State Park will be hosting day camps that will last until Thursday of each week (4 days). These day camps at the park will be led by Park Rangers and will be targeted for children ages 8-10 or grade levels 3-5.  Some of the activities planned for these day camps are:
  • Animal Tracking - learn to identify animals by the tracks they leave behind, What was it? When was it here? How fast was it moving? How many where there? Also create molds of the tracks.
  • Bird Identification - use eyes, ears and binoculars to locate and identify birds in the park. Then turn yourself into a bird of your choosing
  • Examine water taken for different areas of the park and see what wildlife is in that water. Magiscopes will be used to look at the micro organisms living in the ponds in the park.
  • Create your own wildlife video. Use a video camera to record the sights and sounds of the park.  Add your videos to those of the other groups and create movie of your activities at the park.
  • Learn how to create a Nature Journal to record what you have seen and learned while at the Park.
