FRIENDS OF THE MESILLA VALLEY BOSQUE STATE PARK

Minutes of the Nov. 1, 2010 General Membership Meeting

The meeting was called to order at 6:40 by Bob Hull, President

Officers and Board Members attending were recognized so that those present would know

who they are.

OLD BUSINESS:

Motion to approve the minutes of the Oct. 14 meeting (Sylvia Hacker) seconded (Vic

Crane), unanimously approved.

Treasurer’s report: Attached. Jerry reported a balance of $4,941.61, of which $1,000 is

earmarked for educational purposes, and $100 is a loan to the Park to make change for

visitors. Jan reported that we are no longer feeding the birds, so the sign on the donation

box in the Visitors’ Center now says that the funds will support the Friends’ group work.

NEW BUSINESS:

Bob Hull called for nominations and expressions of interest for Board Members and

Officers for 2011.

Lauren Ross reported that she has many photos of wildlife at the park (could not show

them because of computer malfunction).

Jackye Meineke discussed the up-coming Renaissance Faire and the need for additional

volunteers to staff our booth, assist with set-up, and assist with take-down, from Friday,

Nov. 5 through Sunday 11/7. A sign-up sheet circulated. Wrist bands for volunteers can be

picked up at Enchanted Gardens Fri. 11/5 from 1 to 6, or volunteers may call Bob Hull

(523-8009) when they are due to volunteer, and he or someone will meet them at the gate to

give them the wristband.

The quilt obtained for our raffle from the Las Colcheras Quilt Guild was displayed. Tickets

will sell for $2 each, 3 for $5.

Sylvia will get copies of the Newsletter to Jackye for copying, for the RenFaire booth.

Jan Kirwan, Park Superintendant, reported on plans for the Anniversary Event / Birthday

Party for Dec. 11 and the Dec. 4 Centennial Saturday events. She will be involved in

meetings to build up the levy on the river, which may necessitate a temporary park closing.

The Wetland Restoration Project (aka Salt Cedar Removal) will begin in January.

Board Meeting with Beth Bardwell has tentatively been scheduled for Wed. Nov. 17.

Next meeting: Monday, Dec. 6 at 6:30 at the Park.

Motion to adjourn at 7:35 (Jackye) seconded by Jerry. Passed unanimously.
